Improve Faster with us!

On this page you will find our recommendation for training to help you climb better!

Firstly, do not over train. Training for climbing can be more dangerous than climbing itself. Finger boarding, weight lifting and other exercises can be dangerous so take it slow, warm up and take breaks.

Secondly, there is no need to train to early in your climbing career. Many climbers get good without ever touching a fingerboard or making a training program. If you feel like you have been stuck on the same grade for a long time or you feel weak/tired when climbing, especially if you have been climbing for a year or two, it might time to consider training.

Finally, these are just recommendations and everyone is different. The best thing to do would be to hire a coach, but who the hell can afford that! Feel free to ask our resident coaches Imi and Dan for advice.

Online resources

There are tonnes of apps, websites and Facebook groups you can check out. Here are some of our favourite.

Crimpd by Lattice is one of the best apps for climbing training you can get. I has loads of exercises and lets you track what you’re doing.

Grippy is a fairly new app specifically built for use with Beastmaker fingerboards. It has exercises from great UK coaches like Neil Gresham and Adam Watson

Training for Climbing is packed with tips and advice for possibly to most experienced coach in climbing Eric Horst. We’d suggest taking a look at the premade training programs. They’re a good place to start if you want to make your training more regular and structured. You can also follow their Facebook page.

Facebook Groups

UCLCMC for obvious reasons! Possibly the best group on Facebook!

The Lattice Training Community is for people following Lattice training programs and using the Crimpd app. Things get quite technical on this page but if you want to see gains then this is a good group to follow.
